Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government, Deputy Chairman of the RIOU Board of Trustees

Born on 8 December 1958 in Krasnodarsky Kray

1977: graduated from Professional Technical College №226 in Petrokrepost, Leningrad region
1987: graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Water Transport, specialising in "ship's machines and mechanisms"
1999: graduated from the Faculty of Law of St. Petersburg State University
2006: completed his thesis "Correlation of Market and Public Regulators in the Development of Physical Culture and Sport" at the St. Petersburg State University
PhD in Economics

Worked as a technician on the vessels of the North-Western River Shipping Line and was Chairman of the Trade Union Committee of the River College.
1983-1991: instructor, secretary, section head, Chairman of the Kirov Regional Council of People's Deputies, Head of Regional Administration
1992-1996: Deputy Mayor of St. Petersburg and Chairman of the City Committee on Social Issues
1997-2003: President of "Zenit" Football Club
2001: initiator of the Russian Football Premier League (RFPL)
Member of the Executive Board of the Russian Football Union President of the Russian Football Premier League
Vice President of the Football Federation of St. Petersburg and North-West Russia
2002: elected to the Executive Board of the Russian Paralympic Committee. For 13 years on a voluntary basis he was Chairman of St. Petersburg's Special Olympic Committee for the rehabilitation of people with a congenital mental disability. For 10 years he has chaired the "Golden Pelican" charity movement
2003: appointed member of the Federation Council of Russia's Federal Assembly, representing St. Petersburg
2008: appointed the Russian Minister of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy
21 May 2012: reappointed Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation by a Presidential decree
