The question concerning globalization of sport and the need in new professional sports management competences arising in this connection were discussed in different platforms of the Forum "Russia is a sports nation" by the Russian International Olympic University delegation.
RIOU CEO professor Lev Belousov in his presentation at the final Forum plenary session in the Ice Stadium stated that modernizing the sport industry on the whole requires new generation staff, people who are able to solve not only current problems but also the would-be-problems tomorrow. To make them well prepared we need innovative educational technologies and methods, new educational instruments. "RIOU is one of such instruments. Its appearance is not accidental, it is a response to the time challenge. Our goal is to prepare such managers foe the olympic and paralympic movement, for the world sports industry, for Russia", - Lev Belousov said.
RIOU potential was highly estimated by Mordovia administration. On 9 September the head of the Republic Nikolay Merkushin and the University CEO professor Lev Belousov signed the Agreement of cooperation. The sides agreed on cooperation in the sphere of education and preparing qualified managerial staff to develop mass sport and elite sport and to disseminate olympic ideals.
The round-table meeting "Globalization of sport: new challenges and standards of sports education" was the final RIOU event within the Forum "Russia is a sports nation". Renowned Russian and international experts discussed the main tendencies of international sports industry development, special features of sports education in Russia and abroad, the role and place of sports management in Russian industry of sport. In particular, one of the famous international sports marketing experts Andrew Crage shared his viewpoint and vision of "Globalization of sport: main trends and challenges". The Director of Olympic Research Center from the Autonomous University of Barcelona Emilio Fernandez Penia delivered a speech about "The role of new media in globalizing international sport and olympic movement".
