RIOU presented Pierre de Coubertin Olympic memoirs in Sochi.  His memories, first published in Russia, open the University publishing programme. The book provides readers with a unique opportunity to view the events of the XIX – the first third of the XX century with the eyes of the person who made a crucial impact on the development of world sport, to feel the nerve of the time. Determination, assertiveness and belief in olympic ideas helped baron de Coubertin create the project of the world scale, which became an integral part of the modern world and which continues developing successfully.

The translation of the book was made by a Sorbonne University teacher, Anastasia Lester. The edition contains a unique selection of archive photos from the exposition of the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. The photos convey the atmosphere of the Olympic Games and make us feel a unique flavor of the times. The memoire will be useful for sports managers as well as a wide range of readers who are interested in the history of sport. 

Sochi universities and scientific centers executives, teachers, scientists, who conduct fundamental and applied research, develop educational programmes and courses on sport and Olympic Movement, Sochi media executives, city administration, business communities representatives took part in the presentation.

To enable all Sochi citizens to get to know the "Olympic memoirs", RIOU officially donated the edition to the city museums and libraries, as well as Sochi archive.

During the discussion RIOU CEO Professor Lev Belousov said that "it is very important to introduce this book to Sochi intellectual community. Sochi citizens in fact create the history of the first Winter Olympic Games in Russia and today they are forming the Games legacy". He expressed his confidence that "RIOU partnership with Sochi universities science will allow us to create a unique information project of olympic legacy, which will facilitate the development of the International Olympic Movement".
