IIIHF President and IOC Executive Board member René Fasel chairs RIOU Expert Council

The Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) has formed an Expert Council to review and advise on the University's programmes and activities. The Council is comprised of renowned experts in science, sport and business from nine different countries. The Expert Council members are:
René Fasel, IIHF President, IOC Executive Board member and Chair of the Expert Council
Alexander Bryansev, Director of the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee Education Department and Executive Secretary of the Expert Council
Jean-Loup Chappelet, Professor of IDHEAP – University of Lausanne
Dmitry Chernyshenko, President and CEO of the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee
Lamartine Da Costa, Professor of Sports History and Management at the Brazilian University Gama Filho, and Brazilian National Olympic Academy President
Graham Fane, Dean of The Capilano University Business School (Canada)
Gilbert Felli, IOC Executive Director (France)
Robert Gruman, Head of PwC Global Practice on the Olympic Movements
Sergey Kuschenko, Executive Director of the Russian Biathlon Union
Chris Solly, International Sport Academy Training Executives Department Director (Australia)
Udo Steiner, Professor of Law at the University of Regensburg and Chair of the German Olympic Sports Union Anti-Doping Commission (2008)
Mikhail Terentyev, Russian Paralympic Committee General Secretary
Jon Tibbs, communications expert, Founder and CEO of Jon Tibbs Associates (UK)
Andrey Volkov, Rector of the Skolkovo Moscow School of Management.

The Expert Council aims to assess the effectiveness of RIOU's educational programmes and projects. The Expert Council's remit includes conducting research and preparing recommendations for the RIOU Supervisory Board on promoting the University as a leading Olympic education centre. Expert Council activities are implemented on a pro bono basis.

"We have attracted theoretical and practical experts to RIOU, professionals with significant experience in sport, science, education, law, public management and social policy.  We are drawing on their opinions and expert assessments when designing our educational programmes and this will enable us to develop in the correct strategic direction," said RIOU CEO, Professor Lev Belousov.
