Last week we hosted the essential delegation of the Finnish-Russian Commission for Scientific and Technological Cooperation, Working Group for Social Sciences. The group has over 40 years history of contributing into the development of the Russian-Finnish relations, and its members visit our country yearly. This time they decided to come to Sochi. No wonder RIOU was among one of the top visit spots. Pro-rector and Head of RIOU's branch office in Sochi, Ms. Irina Badayan, told the guests about the University and its programs, as well as opportunities for student exchange and collaboration. The delegation featured representatives of the Aalto University, University of Tampere, Lappeenranta University of Technology, Academy of Finland among other organizations. The guests said that they were interested in Sochi, as the 2014 Winter Olympics & Paralympics capital - historically a seaside-resort town - has hosted the mega-events, and now boasts an enormous potential for the development and cross-cooperation with the Finnish partners. Just to add, the Olympic University already has good-neighborly relations with the Finnish partners: mostly each year one Finnish student gets the Vladimir Potanin Foundation’s highly competitive Olympic Scholarship for the studies at RIOU, and the RIOU students do an in internship at the Finnish mountain ski-resorts.
