He is a chair of the Section of Ecosystem Health of Russian Academy of Sciences scientific head of the Center for Russian Environmental Policy.

Professor Zakharov is an author of more than 300 publications, including 20 monographs, originator and organizer of more than 50 national and international conferences in Russia, Finland, Australia and USA.
He has Diploma of the RF President and Federal Assembly, Ministry of Nature Protection and Ecology, Russian Academy of Sciences, Government Prize in Science and Technology.
