About our programmes

RIOU is currently delivering 25 full-time and distance learning courses related to sports and the Olympic Movement, targeting various audiences within the sports industry in Russia and the wider world. The length of programmes ranges between 24 hours and 39 weeks.

In 2010 the Russian International Olympic University undertook the implementation of more than 10 educational programmes ordered by the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee. Since 2011 RIOU has been conducting special training courses for Russian regional sports leaders, Olympstroy staff and Sochi's municipal employees.Currently RIOU offers a range of short-term programmes: career enhancement courses for retired athletes and sports officials from Russia's regional authorities, as well as seminars on Paralympic sports, barrier free environment and Olympic hospitality.

The university`s main educational product is a one-year (Master of Sport Administration) (MSA) course which was launched in September 2013. This special programme has been devised by a group of leading Russian and foreign experts in accordance with RIOU's original concept which was approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). In 2017 the influential British "SportBusiness International" magazine has ranked the Master of Sport Administration course second among all European postgraduate sports courses (2017 Postgraduate Sports Course Rankings). In future, the University is planning to run an ExМSA (Executive Master of Sport Administration) postgraduate course.

Since 2010, RIOU has provided training on various courses to over 10,000 people, including representatives of local authorities and sports organisations from nearly 86 regions of Russia.
