The state-of-the-art multimedia library has opened its doors to students in the academic building of the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU).

«RIOU library is unique in the Russian south region today with its cutting edge technical equipment and program software. It includes three reading halls with computerized work stations for visitors. The book search and logistics is organized through the RFID-system», - tells Victoria Bragina, Head of RIOU Archive and Library Funds. The book search process is very simple and quick for a user.

The whole book collection is systematized in the electronic catalogue which is available online and provides for simple/advanced search options as well as order system for a required book. « What is important for us is to create comfortable working atmosphere for our visitors. That is why we pay special attention to the position of books in accordance with their theme and academic unit.  When a reader has made a book choice he/she just needs to use the automatic loan station. Thanks to the electronic tag the chosen book will be put on record in reader's electronic ticket.  The same is with the deposition of the book,  – the reader just puts it to the automated book receiver which cancels the book loan. All operations with the book collection can be monitored online in the electronic catalogue which allows users to see if a required book is present and available for work. The electronic system is also very helpful in maintaining safety of the collection – for example, if a reader forgot to put a book on record or in case of an unauthorized book exportation, an alarm signal will be activated», - explained Victoria. 

Today the RIOU library collection contains around 2000 publications in the Russian and English languages. Thematically these publications fall into the following categories: management, marketing, economics, politics, security, law, career management, research in the sports industry. Besides, the RIOU library has some real value publications, such as those presented to RIOU by representatives of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). These include books and magazines in Russian, English, French, Chinese and other languages. In the near future the RIOU library collection will be complemented by documents and materials of the Sochi 2014 Games Archives.
