The project of creating the Russian International Olympic University in Sochi reveals that Russia looks on the sunny side of things and feels confident about the future. It is the opinion of a legendary athlete, 35 pole vaulting world records holder, President of Ukrainian National Olympic Committee Sergey Bubka. He said this in Lausanne when he was proposed as a candidate to the position of President of the International Olympic Committee. Answering the question about cooperation with the Russian Olympic movement, Sergey Bubka highly appreciated the development of sport in the fraternal country:

- Sporting events which are being held and will soon be held in Russia attract attention of the whole world. Kazan Universiade 2013 is likely to be the best in history. The World Athletics Championship in Moscow in august 2013 and the Sochi winter Olympic Games 2014 are also historical events which will definitely have great legacy both in terms of infrastructure and in social sphere. The World Cup 2018 will open new opportunities in the development of this sport in the world. The fact that Russia regularly holds such large-scale competitions means that the country has become one of the leaders in world sports movement. It is important to note that many initiatives belong to Russian President Vladimir Putin who knows what sport really is, who feels the inner world of an athlete and who understands who important sports development is for the harmonious development of the country, - Sergey Bubka expressed his viewpoint.
