RIOU and Mordovia continue effective cooperation

More than 40 representatives of Mordovia and Volga regions sports organizations passed the staff development course on sports marketing prepared by the RIOU for the regional Ministry of Sport, Physical Culture and Tourism.

This programme, designed for professional audience, was implemented in Saransk on 19-23 March. Executives of special youth sports schools of olympic reserve in gymnastics, box, wrestling, ice hockey, volleyball, basketball, The Chegin Olympic Center on race walking, Mordovia Tennis Center, Auto Sport Association, other professional organizations got to know the theory and practice of "Marketing in sports industry". Leading Russian experts talked about marketing strategies and technologies development, the scheme of cooperation between sports organizations and the state and business, effective instruments of working with sponsors. The classes were constructed in the form of interactive lectures which contained certain case-study from sport life and projects of organizing sports events.

On completing the educational programme the participants got special certificates of the Russian International Olympic University. At the ceremony of granting them RIOU CEO Professor Lev Belousov said: "I am sure that our collaboration will last long. The University is ready to suggest Mordovia a number of new programmes of staff development on sports management, sports facilities management, creating barrier-free environment, sports law and security in sport. We do care that apart from merely educational function such trainings form a good ground for professional communication and high level dialogue. Next year, when the RIOU will start the full-time educational course, we will be glad to see the applicants from Mordovia in our unique one-year MSA (Master of Sport Administration) programme".

Mordovia enjoys the right to be called one of the most important sports centers in Russia, as it has excellent infrastructure. In September 2011 the head of the republic Nicolay Merkushin and RIOU CEO Lev Belousov signed the Agreement of cooperation which implies effective collaboration in staff development for mass and elite sports and olympic ideals promotion.
