The Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) is welcoming applications for a continuing professional development programme "Master of Sport Administration – Individual Pathway". The course, which will be delivered in Russian, is targeted at professionals wishing to further develop their expertise in strategic sport management without giving up their jobs. The main feature of the programme is that an individual curriculum will be elaborated for each student to meet his/her learning needs. Students can start the course at any time convenient to them, and are expected to study five core modules: Economics and Finances in Sport; Sport and Social Relations; Research, Management and Sport; Sport Business Environment; Marketing and Communications in Sport. The two-year programme includes both classroom and distance learning elements, with about 70% of the course content being taught online. At the final phase students take on-campus exams and defend a graduation thesis that leads to the award of the qualification "Master of Sport Administration".
RIOU Rector, Professor Lev Belousov, said: "A vast majority of managers already working in the sports industry can't afford to take a year off work to advance their education. The individual pathway programme, with its predominantly online delivery, allows students more flexibility in managing their study schedules, so it gives them a great chance to enhance their qualifications and careers. In addition to online communication, students will be able to have face-to-face consultations with course professors whenever they need. They are also offered guidance and support from personal administrators, as well as an opportunity to attend lectures on the English-language version of the MSA programme. In other words, we will provide students on individual pathways with educational standards and engagement level that are as high as in the on-campus programme".
Lectures and seminars will be given by highly respected Russian professors of sport management and marketing, and international experts such as Sebastian Kaiser, PhD Sport Economics and Sociology, Dean of the MA Sport Management at SRH University Heidelberg (Germany), Vladimir Andreff, PhD Economics, Professor Emeritus at the University Paris Pantheon Sorbonne (France), and Jon Tibbs, an internationally recognised marketing specialist and CEO of JTA (UK).
The cost of tuition on the MSA – Individual Pathway course is 252,000 RUB. The programme is designed to run for two years, but it can be completed earlier if a student fulfils all the course requirements ahead of the schedule.
