According to the governmental decree issued on June 10, 2010 one of the main tasks of the Russian International Olympic University is training highly qualified personnel for XXII Olympic and XI Paralympic Winter Games in 2014 in the city of Sochi. A series of training programs for Sochi 2014 staff started in September focusing on managerial skills. During several months more than 200 peopled increased their professional level. 33 Organizing Committee staff members having followed at least 3 trainings and having successfully passed the final tests were awarded RIOU certificated on March 31, 2011.
The Sochi 2014 Workforce Director Marina Pakhomkina underlined the importance of collaboration with RIOU for training Sochi Games' workforce. In his turn the University's Chief Executive Officer Lev Belousov pointed out that as RIOU develops the value of these first certificates will only grow since they are the first.
