This question was widely discussed by the leading Russian and British specialists on the workshop "Risk management in sport" held in Moscow on 12 September under the auspices of the Department of Trade and Investment British Embassy in Russia.

Identification and analysis of risks is a goal every business structure is faced with, and sport is no exception. The questions connected with different types of insurance in sport were widely discussed on the workshop: protecting athletes from financial losses as a result of injuries and the end of the career in sport; insuring commercial risks of sports venues; insuring financial losses of rights holders and sport events organizers owing to the cancelation of the competitions planed.

In the process of discussing risks at the stage of sports venues projecting, the participants were presented the concept of «Luzhniki» development. According to the program, its reconstruction will last till 2016. The project implies creating the best sport-leisure complex in Europe, where the World Cup Final and large world shows can be held in 2018. It is planned to invest 65 billion roubles for this.

Such renowned professionals as deputy director of sport complex «Luzhniki» Eduard Zernin, senior consultant of the company «March – insurance brokers» sports practice Patric Vazhda, partner, the head of the practice on solving arguments of «Clifford Chance» Moscow office, co-head of «Clifford Chance» group Nicolas Mandy took part in the discussions.

The chair of LOCOG lord Sebastian Coe delivered a greeting speech to the workshop participants.
