The documents were signed during the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (GA ANOC) and the II World Olympic Sport Convention being held on April 10-18 in Moscow.

These are the first agreements of cooperation having been concluded by the Russian International Olympic University with NOCs of the two forthcoming Olympic Games host countries. The time and place of signing were chosen in purpose as the General Assembly of ANOC is a key event in the calendar of Olympic movement national leaders. Participating in such a respectable forum is a good opportunity to strengthen the university working contacts with the aim of forming powerful experts and teachers resources, as well as widening the international audience of potential students.

RIOU CEO, Professor Lev Belousov:

- RIOU is a unique university created under the aegis of the International Olympic Committee. Our primary task is to train new generation managers for sports industry and the Olympic Movement.

The Agreement with the Russian Olympic Committee is directed to mutually profitable cooperation in education and science activities. We will retrain athletes – members of Russian Olympic Team. We are to provide them with the conditions they need to apply as managers in sports industry after their own sport career. We need special programmes for that, directed to social adaptation of athletes. Together with the ROC we will exert every effort to give our athletes high quality additional professional education.

Signing the Memorandum of cooperation with the Brazilian NOC, where in 2016 XXXI Summer Olympic Games will be held, illustrates the university involvement in the international Olympic movement, its participation in training staff for the Games, the access to practical experience of organizing summer Olympic Games. It is important both for making our research basis and for exchanging experience on preparation and staging large events.

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) President Alexander Zhukov:

The Russian Olympic Committee is one of the RIOU founders. Signing the agreement of cooperation opens a new stage of our relations. We are starting active work in practical training of sports specialists who are supposed to apply their skills in the Sochi Winter Games, then in Rio and in all the forthcoming Games. I am sure that our joint work in Olympic education and sports staff development spheres will give the university programmes a new dimension and encourage its further development.

But what is more important, our collaboration means a lot for athletes of the Russian Olympic Team. We are trying to give our athletes different possibilities of their career development after they finish their active sport life. I have no doubt that those who were able to achieve such high results in sport can become effective managers. They possess all the personal qualities they need for that. Our task is to provide them with opportunities of further professional carrer, dive them a chance to get the right education. And the RIOU is our indispensable partner in this activity.

Brazilian Olympic Committee (BOC) President Carlos Arthur Nuzman:

- We consider expanding international exchange as one of the key priorities of the BOC. The Russian International Olympic University is an important partner both from the point of view of the Olympic movement development and for preparation of elite sports managers who will run international sporting events and cultural forums. In particular we are interested in collaboration within the framework of target-tailored trainings and special programs involved in staging the XXI Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. I hope that with our efforts combined it will be possible to use the experience accumulated by our two nations with more efficiency. Not only to deal with educational and practical Olympic issues for our countries but globally as well.
