From 19 to 24 April the city of Sochi will play host to one of the leading forums in the sports world – the SportAccord Convention World Sport & Business Summit.
The Convention is heading up to Sochi for the first time while generally Russia will be hosting SportAccord for the second time in its last three editions (in 2013 the Convention was held in Saint-Petersburg).
For the sports industry representatives SportAccord provides a unique opportunity to make contact with leaders of international sport, establish new relations, discuss the topical issues in the development of the industry. This year the Convention’s programme will include conferences on sports law (LawAccord), sports medicine (Medical Accord), the role of the media (MediaAccord) as well as the Congress and General Assemblies of three associations whose members consist of 109 International Sports Federations (IFs) and Associate Members.
The topic of the main conference of the Convention this year will be “Legacy” which will give Sochi as the host city of 2014 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games a good opportunity to demonstrate how it’s fulfilling its legacy.
RIOU actively participates in the Convention. First of all, RIOU MSA students are engaged as volunteers for SportAccord working as assistants to VIP delegates, client managers at information desks and in the media centre. SportAccord Convention guests and delegates will be able to learn more about the University from volunteering students as well as visiting our booth (13/2) located in the Host City Expo Zone “Modern sport. Innovations and Perspectives”.
However, the broadest overview of RIOU activities will be given in the presentation of RIOU Rector, Prof. Belousov scheduled for 23 April (14:30 -15:00, Main Auditorium, Sochi ExpoCentre). He will present RIOU as the main element of the humanitarian legacy of Sochi 2014 Olympic Games and will share with the audience RIOU’s new original projects.
In the framework of the business programme of the Convention RIOU plans to sign Memorandums of Cooperation with the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (FIBT).
