RIOU Rector Lev Belousov congratulated the students on Students’ Day, telling them about the history of the celebration and emphasising uniqueness of knowledge and opportunities of student life at RIOU. The Rector expressed his hope that the students will benefit from team spirit, have many exciting moments both in the classroom and beyond, and defend their dissertations successfully in six months’ time.

The speech was followed by the special sports event - the shuffleboard tournament. Among the RIOU students who took part in the competition were Olympians, employees of sports federations, sports coaches and instructors, managers and volunteers from 17 different countries of the world. The winner was Harakiri team.

“It was great to have a boost of positive emotions and to feel the thrill of an international competition! It’s really exciting to be part of the large RIOU family!” said RIOU student, participant in five summer and winter biathlon world championships, multiple medallist at Russian biathlon and skiing championships Alexander Ogarkov.
“Apart from providing excellent education and training, RIOU also organises interesting events which allow us to try new sports and strengthen our friendship,” said student on RIOU’s international Master of Sport Administration course Koki Nabeshima (Japan).
As efficient sports managers, the RIOU students held negotiations upon the end of the tournament to discuss the opportunities of staging shuffleboard competitions in various countries of the world.
