RIOU launches a spring programme of short professional development courses

The programme includes a series of educational courses that will commence on the following dates:

March 14: External Communications and PR in the System of Sports Management.  The course covers areas such as building a strategy for and assessing the effectiveness of a PR campaign, public relations in the management system of a major sports project or facility, PR in social media, crisis PR, etc.  

Lectures will be delivered by experts in the field of public relations in sport, who have practical experience in implementing successful PR strategies in managing sports clubs and staging major sporting events.

March 15: Psychology in Sport. The course will discuss topics such as basic self-regulation in sport, age periodisation and testing techniques. Participants will be able to develop skills in empathic confrontation, communication and other practical areas. The course will be delivered by sports psychologist, Olympic medallist Yelizaveta Kozhevnikova, and medical psychologist, director of the Centre for Classical Psychological Counselling and Testing Nikolay Kotilenkov. 

March 14: Preventing Doping in Youth Sport. This course is part of the anti-doping educational programme run jointly by RIOU and RUSADA. The teaching team includes consultants from international sports organisations, RUSADA employees, sports medicine practitioners, psychologists, and sports law experts.

Participants in all the courses will study real-world cases, as well as relevant documents and processes, learning about best practices in state government and commercial activities in sport.

They will have access to the extensive Sochi 2014 database and RIOU’s library collections. The best performing participants may receive references to start a career in RIOU’s partner organisations or companies operating in the sports industry.

Upon completion of the course, the participants will be awarded state-recognised professional development certificates.

RIOU’s short courses have been attended by over 6,000 sports leaders and specialists from across Russia and the CIS countries, employees of sports federations and clubs, organisers of major sporting events, renowned Russian athletes, and volunteer leaders.
