The Russian International Olympic University (RIOU), in partnership with the Lomonosov Moscow State University’s School of Public Administration (SPA), have announced the launch of a dual degree Master's programme in Public Administration in Sport and the International Olympic Movement. The first cohort includes students from the People's Republic of China.

Graduates will be awarded a Master's degree from MSU and a diploma of additional professional education from RIOU. A key feature of the RIOU component will be a focus on developing digital competencies, leading to the qualification of Master of Digital Administration in Sport.

As part of the course, students will learn to use innovative tools — from Big Data and Artificial Intelligence to blockchain and the Internet of Things (IoT) — in managing sports organisations. They will master strategies for digitalising business processes, data management, developing digital platforms, and implementing projects for smart stadiums. Practice-oriented case studies, learning from industry experts, and a focus on global trends will equip students with the skills needed to take sports clubs, federations, and startups to the next frontier of excellence.

"This course was designed and tailored for our Chinese partners, and is fully aligned with the needs of the Chinese market. The very name of the qualification — Master of Digital Administration in Sport — speaks volumes. It reflects a powerful trend gaining momentum in the global sports industry, and we are moving in step with this trend," said RIOU Rector, full member of the Russian Academy of Education, Professor Lev Belousov.

The first intake comprising 15 Chinese students have already commenced their studies. The programme will be delivered in a blended format, featuring three in-person sessions in Sochi throughout the course.
