On 22 January, the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) hosted an open lecture on university sports for its MSA cohorts. The session was led by Albina Rakhmatullina, Programme Coordinator at the International University Sports Federation (FISU). 

Albina spoke about international projects within sports for university students. In 2025, the World University Games (Universiade 2025) were held in Germany, with RIOU graduates taking part in their organisation. MSA student Yulia Nechepurenko shared her experience of working at the Summer Universiade. She said: “I volunteered for six months before being offered a role in the international relations department. This practical experience will inform my dissertation research here at RIOU.”

FISU also places a strong emphasis on educational programmes aimed at upgrading the skills of future sports managers. For MSA students, this represents another opportunity for professional growth.

In cooperation with universities, FISU runs the Healthy Campus programme. In 2025, RIOU was awarded the Gold level certification – a distinction held by only a handful of institutions across Russia. Students learned how they can get involved in driving this project forward on campus. 

The session encouraged open dialogue, with attendees asking questions, working through real-world case studies, and sharing plans for future FISU events.

Albina Rakhmatullina’s deep connection with RIOU sees her regularly act as an expert speaker, sit on dissertation panels, and represent FISU at University events. Through this work, she not only informs students about career development opportunities within FISU, but also introduces FISU Ambassadors – representatives from countries across all continents – to RIOU’s unique offerings. Each year, students engaged with FISU are successful in winning the competitive RIOU Scholarships and securing places on the Master of Sport Administration course.
