A memorandum of understanding between the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) and the World Academy of Sport (WAoS) was signed in Moscow on April 20.
The document was signed by RIOU's chief executive officer prof. Lev Belousov and WAoS Director Chris Solly. The ceremony was also attended by WAoS Director, Brand and IF Relations Michael Cary.
According to the MoU the parties intend to hold joint educational activities in order to train Sochi 2014 Games' workforce and cooperate in the legacy programs.
The document stipulates eventual exchange of staff and students, development and delivery of education courses, joint research, publication and symposia.
The Russian International Olympic University was created in 2009 in accordance with a decree by the Russian government and a memorandum of understanding between the International Olympic Committee, the Russian Olympic Committee and Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee.
The World Academy of Sport founded in 2005 in Manchester and provides world leading educational programs to International Sporting Federations and their member constituents around the world.
