PhD, Professor of sport management and Dean of the Graduate School at Shanghai University of Sport.
Areas of competence:
His main research interests include sport events management, sports events evaluation, sport and urban development, and sport policy studies. He has over 70 publications including books, refereed journals articles, and conference articles. His articles are published in journals such as Tourism Economics, and European Sport Management Quarterly. He has published two books (co-author) with Rutledge including The Global Economics of Sport. In 2015, Professor Liu won the 7th National Excellent Research Achievement Award (Humanities and Social Sciences) by China's Ministry of Education.
Professional Experience:
Dr. Liu Dongfeng is a member of China Sports Strategy Society, a think tank of China's Sports Ministry. He is international professor with INSEEC Business School, and also guest professor with University College Dublin, Ireland, Kufstein University, Austria, and EM Lyon Business School, France. He serves on the editorial boards of peer reviewed journals such as Journal of Global Sport Management and Journal of Shanghai University of Sport. Professor Liu has led consulting projects with multiple government departments at various levels, community sport organisations, private sport enterprises, and sport facilities. Professor Liu has presented on various topics in sport management and sport events at conferences in China, Europe, South America and Asia.
